The State of Texas sued the federal government on behalf of a number of state firms over the designation of the dunes grass reptile as an endangered species. They claim that the decision was motivated by an attack on the state’s economy rather than an effort to conserve the species.
The state and several Democratic political governments, starting with former President Barack Obama, have been at odds with one another over listing the reptile.
