Scam targeting La Coste PD

By La Coste PD Chief Kendricks, November 4, 2020

A MESSAGE FROM THE LA COSTE POLICE DEPARTMENT

We have recently received reports from complainants who have received telephone calls from a male suspect claiming to be an Officer with the La Coste Police Department claiming the complainant’s social security number was compromised.

THESE CALLS ARE SCAMS!!!

As a reminder…

The La Coste Police Department Warrant Division WILL initiate telephone calls regarding ACTIVE Municipal Warrants ONLY and provide information of how to take care of the Warrant, but at NO TIME will an officer REQUEST or DEMAND payment over the telephone, nor will ANY officer contact you by telephone concerning social security information.

The City of La Coste DOES NOT initiate telephone calls concerning fees due.

Additional information regarding the most common telephone scams is available online.

We encourage anyone who receives such calls to call the DEPARTMENT at (830) 985-9494 or the Non-Emergency Sheriff’s office number (830) 741-6153, research the information online, or contact the City Offices prior to giving out any personal information over the phone to ANYONE.
