By the City of Uvalde, October 14, 2020
Effective Monday, October 12, the City and County of Uvalde has met the criteria to rescind the State of Texas mandatory mask mandate, therefore, the mandate is no longer in effect.
However, individual businesses that choose to exercise their right to keep mask requirements in place will be fully supported by the City and County of Uvalde, including, if necessary, assistance from law enforcement.
The City and County of Uvalde strongly advise their residents to continue wearing masks when out in public, practice social distancing standards, and use good hygiene practices.
If local active cases increase beyond the threshold set by the Texas Governor, the State of Texas’ mandatory mask requirement will be reinstated, per the Governor’s declaration.
