THE SUN HAD BARELY crested the sky, casting a sweet, bright radiance over the beach. The tone of salmon swallowing on their top liquid favorites of shad and shrimp was heard midst the symphony of morning birds. This image sets the stage and what becomes the fact for us wade fishery joy and serenity. The entire hunting trip in our southern paradise in South Texas is about this.
We are still not out of the woods for humid weather and disturbances in our Gulf system in the month of September. It can have a positive or negative impact on your harbor program, depending on the size and where the systems are installed.
For example, there was a surprise that landed below Brownsville, and we are about 100+ yards North here in the Upper Laguna. Water had been pushed into places and flooded cottages that we were n’t used to fishing because of the storm surge. Because of the lower indicator, we were able to catch the wandering reds that were cruising these areas. The bite was incredible, as these reds were scurrying through our baits in a feeding frenzy.
On the other hand, it can provide fresh water from the Gulf to the sea method, which also aids in the removal of our floating grass that has been a problem for our communities after the dog days of Summer have slowed down our ecosystems.
We too want to take out the meal bell to our intended species of trout and redfish, so a typical pre-Fall morning begins at 6:00 a.m. Our Summertime designs are still in place, so the technique we use at this time of year has n’t much changed.

Our mornings begin with wading deep shorelines with sand pockets, and we will soon experience a drop off as these fish monster for easy bait. We want to use a smaller top liquid trap to catch their attention. Mansfield Knockers is one of my favourite go-to movies, for instance. If I want a smaller-profile soft cheap, I personally prefer to switch to one of my trust sets, which includes a Salty Head pale lead and a MirrOlure Lil John Purple Demon. I choose a variety of Coastal Brew Bait colors if I want a bigger page.
There is a bit to be said about how more people use what they feel most comfortable and comfortable using as a hookup.
As the afternoons are still warm in the mid-80s to mid-90s, we presently change and placement ourselves at drop-offs. The bass begin to rise in the cooler, deeper waters as the water temperatures reflects the same. These dropoffs do n’t need to be very deep; they just need to be a foot or two where the fish have moved. To find our fish down to the point where the fish are suspended, we may switch our lead head to an 1 / 8 or 1 / 14 grams.
