The” Next Generation” is represented by the TOWA Port Arthur Conference.

The TOWA Port Arthur Conference Becomes A Model For The Next Generation

Last weekend, the Texas Outdoor Writers Association( TOWA ) met in Port Arthur for its annual conference.

The Next Generation was the weekend’s concept, and that was in fact the main focus of the event.

According to newly elected President Jeff Lichon, motivating the next generation of TOWA individuals is essential for the organization’s success.

” We’re eager to collaborate with seasoned users, encourage new ones to visit us, and uphold the majority’s illustrious history of advancing the North American Model of Conservation in their particular fields.”

The yearly Bob Hood Scholarship plays a significant role in this.

Hood was a devoted member of the organization, whose reputation extends not only to his writings but also to assisting students who are interested in animals with their training.

Ashley Marie Ridlon, a graduate student at Texas A & M who is interested in pursuing an animal medicine doctorate, is this year’s recipient of the$ 1, 000 scholarship.

She is already an active conservationist and has worked on everything from rehabilitating local tortoises in Texas to researching kingfishers ducks.

Texas Brigades member Natalie Wolff discussed a job that will connect the cadets in their twenties with TOWA and their required writing projects.

At the nine summer camps, a number of individuals consented to give presentations.

The Port Arthur Convention & Visitors Bureau, the site’s number, demonstrated to participants why their branded” Visit Pot Arthur” phrase is a must-have for outdoor enthusiasts.

A style of the recreational options was provided by a visit of Sea Rim State Park and the Gulf Coast Museum.

The region and its king diamond Sabine Lake provide some of the best interior game hunting on the Texas Coast, according to a lecture from the S. A. L. T. Club.

At the yearly TOWA Conference, Shelly Hood Archer awards the Bob Hood Scholarship.

” Port Arthur has been wonderful to us, and we were delighted to go back for the event.” Herman Brune, the event planner and board member for TOWA, said,” We had a great time and everyone here treated us delightfully.”

The annual Excellence in Craft competition, which was sponsored by the National Shooting Sports Foundation and included certificates for second place and honorable mention, honored media from across the state on Saturday with$ 200 for each first place win.

Chester Moore, the recipient of the most honors, took home a Mossberg 6.5 PRC weapons.

At the Sunday part meeting, Jon Brauchle and Don Discoe were also chosen as secretary and treasurer, respectively, in addition to Lichon’s candidacy.

The organization’s transformation into a place where new and seasoned people could collaborate for the shared goal of wildlife conservation and outdoor contact was given special attention.

In the upcoming weeks, TOWA will release a news release about noteworthy events that will support the call to” the next generation.”
