The TOWA Port Arthur Conference Becomes A Model For The Next Generation
Last weekend, the Texas Outdoor Writers Association( TOWA ) held its yearly conference in Port Arthur.
” The Next Generation” was the design of the weekends, and that was in fact the main topic of discussion.
Jeff Lichon, the newly elected president, stated that motivating the next generation of TOWA individuals is essential to the success of the group.
The North American Model of Conservation has a long history of being promoted by the membership, and we are eager to work with longtime people to motivate innovative ones to meet us.
The monthly Bob Hood Scholarship plays a significant role in this.
Hood was a devoted member of the organization, whose reputation extends beyond his writings to include assisting students who are interested in animals with their training.
Ashley Marie Ridlon, a graduate student at Texas A & M working toward her doctorate in veterinary medicine, is the recipient of the$ 1,000 scholarship for this year.
She has done anything from research on Eider birds to work with rehabilitating Texas native tortoises. She is already an active conservationist.
Texas Brigades’ Natalie Wolff discussed a job with the group’s members that will connect the recruits in their twenties to TOWA and their required writing assignments.
At the nine summer camps, a number of people consented to give presentations.
The Port Arthur Convention & Visitors Bureau, the site’s number, demonstrated to participants why their branded” Visit Pot Arthur” phrase is a must-have for outdoor enthusiasts.
A style of the recreational options was provided by a tour of Sea Rim State Park and the Gulf Coast Museum.
