Epic Records, the owner of the MyChart program, is suing Texas, alleging that it both has a stranglehold on the field and makes it difficult for families to get their children’s health records.
Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton filed the antitrust lawsuit on December 10 in district judge in Tarrant County. By “locking up” hospitals into its electronic health records ( EHR ) systems, it accused Epic of “inserting” itself as the “gatekeeper” of patient data and then dictating when and which individuals can access it.
