The Texas Senate is hoping to set the stage with new legislation to force a rehearing of a landmark 2021 Texas Court of Criminal Appeals (CCA) decision, that found state law granting the Office of the Attorney General (OAG) prosecutorial authority violated the Texas Constitution.
Senate Bill (SB) 11, by Sen. Bryan Hughes (R-Mineola), would re-enact statutory language allowing the OAG to initiate and take control of criminal prosecutions involving violations of state election law.
