Texas Education Agency (TEA) Commissioner Mike Morath announced the state takeover of the Fort Worth Independent School District (ISD) in an interview this morning.
Morath attributed the takeover to “chronic academic underperformance,” citing an increase in “multiple-year academically unacceptable campuses.” He said these are schools where fewer than one third of students are on grade level or less than half show academic growth, conditions that applied to about 20 campuses.
