Gov. Greg Abbott recently made a$ 1.4 billion announcement to support Texas rural healthcare initiatives over the next five years.
Six initiatives are included in Abbott’s Rural Health Transformation Program to improve remote care throughout the state. Make Rural Texas Healthy Again ( MRTHA ), a detailed grant application, is awarded to rural hospital networks that place a high priority to preventative and dietary initiatives to treat chronic health conditions. Initiatives two, three, and five stress technological advancement and application in remote areas. Initiative four will provide money for hiring more remote medical professionals, and initiative six aims to clear funding for the replacement of medical equipment.
