For next month’s initiation into the Texas Freshwater Fishing Hall of Fame, the council is looking for votes of people and groups that have significantly improved Texas hunting. Programs will be accepted through November 1.
According to Dan Kessler, head of the TFF Hall of Fame Committee, there are currently 38 people and organizations who have had a major influence on freshwater fish in the state. We look forward to continuing to honor and recognize people who contributes to making Texas hunting the best it can be, whether it be an outdoor writer, professional fish, fish team, or industry leader.

The Hall of Fame council, which is made up of fishermen, business experts, fisheries biologists, and Texas freshwater fish organizations, will evaluate the nominees. The committee will select the inductee based on the following standards: ethics, authority and commitment, selfless contributions to the sport, ability to manage fisheries and freshwater fishing, and overall impact. The recipient will be revealed in the flower of 2024 and formally sworn in during a special ceremony and banquet that year.
Kessler continued,” We are thrilled to evaluate all of this year’s votes and welcome the newest inductee into this prestigious group of people and companies that have made such significant contributions to the world-class fish that Texas offers.”
The 2023 inductee,” Mr. Crappie ,” Wally Marshall of Anna, may be formally inducted at the Texas Freshwater Fisheries Center’s annual Hall of Fame spread this October. Through cutting-edge products, competitions, and game advertising, Marshall transformed crappie fishing.
A video honoring Mr. Crappie may be made available on the Texas Freshwater Fishing Hall of Fame music at TPWD’s YouTube Channel after his training. The Texas Parks and Wildlife PBS television program will also feature the picture.
The Texas Freshwater Fisheries Center( TFFC ) in Athens is home to the state’s most recent renovations. Its goals include” fostering a sense of respect, attention, and participation in the sport of fishing” and” recognizing and honoring those who have made an enduring contribution to Texas freshwater fishing.” From August 28 until the spring of 2025, TFFC may temporarily shut for significant repairs. The temporary closure of the Hall of Fame show will also be required as a result of this block.
