Priority legislation created the Texas Regulatory Efficiency Office ( TREO ) and another to strengthen sunset reviews was first approved by the Texas House of Representatives.
Only five votes, four Democrats and one Republican, were cast in favor of Senate Bill ( SB ) 14 by state senator Sen. Phil King (R-Weatherford ). In order to reduce inefficiency, the TREO had review organizations, their methods, and the laws by which they abide. The business would develop a manual that would be published regularly that would provide financial analysis and another that would provide recommendations for reducing regulations.
