As many as 10 are confirmed dead and 23 young girls from a summer camp are missing in and around Kerr County as flash flooding swept through unsuspecting Hill Country communities. Rescue efforts continued into the evening as authorities warned the numbers were still evolving.
In the early morning on July 4, between 12 and 14 inches of rain caused river levels to rise nearly 30 feet in the Kerr County communities of Ingram, Kerrville, Center Point, and Comfort, with water levels topping several high bridges, downing power lines, and destroying entire homes located near the river banks.
