After his fellow Republican on X called Asian students at the University of Texas a “problem,” U.S. Senator John Cornyn announced on Thursday that he would not support Bo French for the Texas rail director.

In response to queries from the Washington Examiner, Cornyn said,” He’s an embarrassment to the Republican Party, and he’s going to bring the entire seat down because of his racist responses.” It’s unclear whether he will cast his vote for state representative Jon Rosenthal, France’s Democrat opponent. He continued,” I may just leave it blank.”

Following a protracted backlash from Democrats as well as some Republicans, including prominent politicians like Texas House Speaker Dustin Burrows and U.S. Senator Ted Cruz, Corny n’s recent escalation followed a widely acclamated condemnation of French’s racial rhetoric. French has increased his remarks since Sunday.

Cornyn has regularly posted about the issue on X, including a quote from a Wall Street Journal article titled” Why I’m Voting for a Texas Democrat” by Karl Rove, a former top aide to President George W. Bush and political strategist for the Republican party.

French made a comment on a still from a Texas Athletics social media video showing students celebrating the Longhorns ‘ traditional return against No. 1 Ohio State A section of individuals who are primarily of South Asian descent were the subject of the picture.

” I’ve heard this year’s UT undergraduate looked like this. I didn’t think it was true. The issue is then naturally much worse than anyone had anticipated,” French wrote.

In response, Cornyn wrote,” Are another Republican elected representatives going to criticize the intolerance and prejudice, or look the other way as it becomes normalized?” This is how effective social functions can become. Sad”.

French’s story of polarizing, racist remarks didn’t start on Sunday. European demanded the deportation of nearly a third of the country’s population at the Conservative Political Action Conference in March.

French ‘ former article as the Tarrant County GOP head, received criticism for his frequent use of insults on social media and for conducting a poll asking supporters whether Jews or Muslims pose a greater threat to America.

French added another comment to his Sunday post on Tuesday, saying that” the radical left and their friends are attacking me” and urging readers to contribute to his plan.

Cornyn responded with” No operation of unpleasant post, no apologies,” adding that this was another article. Simply doubles over and uses it to raise money. The Republican Party is superior to this. We must condemn any hatred directed at our own Texans, or we’ll soon be in the minority.

Rove’s op-ed was reposted on Wednesday, and Cornyn followed up with a second observation.

” The GOP’s horses need a washing,” he said. This is a good place to begin, he wrote.
