The Matagorda complex west of the Mexican border was impacted by the rules. These rules are intended to return to how they were prior to the change.

The following restrictions apply from March 16, 2022 through August 31, 2023 in Matagorda, San Antonio, Aransas, Corpus Christi, and Laguna Madre Bay Systems( all beaches and sea sides for lakes regularly north of Radio 457 ): Daily case 3, Maximum Length 23″.
The following regulations are current north of Radio 457 and, barring changes, will return to their previous west on September 1st.
Daily Bag: 5.
Minimum Duration: 15 feet
Maximum size: 25 inches
Possession Limit: The normal bag and possession limit is doubled, and only one spotted seatrout longer than the specified maximum length may be kept per person per day. Hands equals twice the daily case limit.
