Christopher McKinley of Bay City decided to see if a common tagging program might be able to address his serious concerns about the number of speckled trout along Texas’ coast.

That’s what motivated him to locate fish tagging in Texas.
According to him,” We are on a quest to tagging speckled trout to analyze and track progress rates, movement patterns, and communities by recapture.”
Additionally, although they will track any fish that is legal in size, the target size is at least 20 inches.
” We are asking that you report the information( length, weight, location ) if you capture a tagged fish. Promote everyone to take part by sending a call to the telephone number listed on the tag. Although it is encouraged to better monitor migrations, we know area may be sensitive information, so you will always be asked to provide the precise location of a fish, according to McKinley.
Chester Moore, Editor-in-Chief of TF & G, joined McKinley for some tagging at Sabine Lake. On a Gulp, he caught this another! fished beneath a popping bottle in the hopes of learning immediately whether the tagged fish was found.
More than 300 fish had been tagged from Sabine Lake to the Lower Coast at the time of this writing, and McKinley hopes to rapidly increase that amount to thousands.
According to McKinley,” there are many concerns about the salmon fish, and we are working with state agencies and universities to accomplish our portion to provide information that sheds light on the health of our striped trouted fisherie.”
