DEVINE, Texas – Out in Medina County, the Devine Warhorses are hard at work. They play an old school style that helped push them to a winning record back in 2019.
“We’re going to be tough, we’re going to be a tough out, they’re going to have get everything out of us, we’re going to work, we got to war, we’re horses,” receiver Mason Burford said.
“You know we’re looking good, we lost a couple of seniors really on our defense but hey defense is looking really good this year, the offense has always been good it’s looking really good,” running back and linebacker Fabian Santos added.
Head coach Paul Gomez has put together another outstanding schedule. They did lose a couple of 5A schools from their non-district slate because of COVID-19 restrictions on the larger programs, but they do add Refugio, who are the defending Class 2A state championship.
“It’s a good bunch, we got some good senior leadership, we’ve got a good mix, we’ve got seniors, we’ve got some sophomores that are going to help us out and juniors, so we’ve got a good mix, but we definitely have a good senior class with some good leadership so I think we’ve got some good things happening,” head coach Paul Gomez said.
