In response to rising political tensions, a Texas senator requested assistance from the Federal Bureau of Investigation ( FBI ) in finding Texas Democrats who had fled to other states to obstruct congressional redistricting.

Sen. John Cornyn (R-TX ) wrote a letter to FBI Director Kash Patel on Tuesday to urge the state to “locate or detain potential lawbreakers who have fled the state.”
