This week, a district judge found the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives ( ATF ) had violated a rule that prohibited the use of Forced Reset Triggers ( FRT), which was later overturned and the government issued a partial injunction to protect the plaintiffs from its enforcement.
Judge Reed O’Connor of the Fort Worth Division of the Federal Northern District Court explained that an FRT is an assembly that allows the cause of a semi-automatic weapons to restore using the conventional trigger-return spring more quickly than it would otherwise. A weapon with an FRT allows the user to fireplace at a faster rate than a standard set because of the quick set update.
