Due to the quorum break from the previous year, the Texas Supreme Court upheld petitions to remove Democratic members from the Texas Legislature, including Texas House Democratic Caucus Chair Gene Wu (D-Houston ).
House Democrats fled the position in August to obstruct the GOP-led legislative legislature. Despite attempts by the government and solicitor general, the judge decided that the employees would not be forced to leave their jobs.
