Topwater wires are commonplace for anglers, and most people are familiar with poppers, walk-the-dog type plugs, and buzzbaits, but there are many more.
Let’s take a look at a few in the Texas market that are n’t considered.
Prop lures have one or more shafts on either ending of the trap. These turbines spin as the trap is collected, creating noise and splashing sounds on the water’s edge. Prop baits are particularly effective in calmer waterways where fish are more likely to see the exterior activity because of their special mimicry of flinging prey. These baits work great for specifically targeting guitar bass. An old school type would be the Devil’s Warhorse.
Creeping type lures are special topwater lures that mimic uncommon kind of prey like reptiles or even birds. They may have appendages that cause a lot of activity in the waters and move normally in the water.
They make a great choice for huge, cautious fish because of this activity. These lures work best in quiet, deep water, where fish are more sensitive to subtle area movements.
