In an effort to stop the implementation of the Securing Children Online Through Parental Empowerment (SCOPE ) Act, Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton is facing legal action from the Foundation for Individual Rights and Expression ( FIRE ).
House Bill ( HB) 18, the SCOPE Act, was passed during the 88th Legislative Session. The law aims to stop digital service providers ( DSPs ) from entering agreements with minors without the consent of their parents or guardians. Additionally, it mandates that DSPs offer options for parents or guardians to entirely allow specific settings in these agreements.
