IT’S A Tremendous DAY to be an adventurer.
These next two months are unique and may rank quite close to the top of most bird’s and fisherman list of favorites. Outside actions that were put on hold as a result of the hot summer months are now moving quickly to the back. Even though it may not seem like it at the moment, everything is unmistakably in the air to remind us that annual adjustments are well within our reach.
It’s now time to start seriously considering bow practice, trimming and mowing at the animal rent, stocking up on dove load, and of course, fishing. The big three are violently feeding around on Sabine Lake, taking both different artificial lures and the real thing. It seems as though they can feel the changing periods before we can actually feel them. In the meantime, the heat is still lingering, but knowing what the upcoming weeks may bring is enough to pique our interest as well as the fish and fish.

Some very remarkable stringers of fish, reds, and crumble can be found fishing the tongues of Willow and Bridge Bayous. These locations are popular with Sabine fishing year around because they have a long record of attracting and holding baitfish. Great tidal action keeps carp, shrimp, mullet and glass fish moving in and out. That, in turn, keeps the thirsty animals on the prowl. These bass will take any of these baits as well as a variety of artificials.
Received CAL Series, Down South Lures, and Zoom Super Flukes are some excellent soft plastic decisions. Topwaters like Skitter Walks and She Dogs in bone and pink/silver, as well as Catch 2000s and metal spoons, may also produce good results. Great coastal activity is crucial, so plan accordingly. Work both points out really well and pay special attention to the areas where the current types little eddies.
Redfish and salmon typically prefer it when it sometimes worked a little higher in the waters column or bounced off the bottom. Focus on the areas that are attracting fish, and cast as tight as you can if you’re lucky enough to see fish skipping close to it.
