U. S. Senator Katie Britt (R-Ala. ) has introduced Lulu’s Law, named in honor of 15-year-old Lulu Gribbin from Mountain Brook, Alabama, who is recovering from near-fatal injury from a fish meeting in June. If passed, shark attacks would be eligible for Wireless Emergency Alerts ( WEAs ) similar to those used for Amber Alerts and extreme weather notifications.
Lulu’s Law do make it possible for local, state, tribal, and national government officials to quickly alert and alert people when and where shark encounters like this occur using the WEA system. According to authorities, Lulu and one of her friends were bitten by a shark 90 days after another nearby fish strike. If this method had been in place, according to Britt, the next attack might have been avoided.
State-level activity is also taking place. State Rep. David Faulkner (R-Mountain Brook ) who knows Lulu and her family physically, said he is ready to take action to keep people safe from predators.
