West of the line ( from A to B) that appears on the chart below, national lakes are off Texas. Any other sector of Texas and Louisiana’s national waters, including those marked NOAA Chart 1116A, should not be used for material rights or transportation.
Why This Closing Is Happening:
To prevent misuse of brown prawns that might otherwise be discarded because of their smaller size, the shrimp fishery is closed off Texas every year to help brown shrimp to achieve a larger and more useful size before being harvested.
The Texas closing varies from 45 to 60 days. The Coastal Fisheries Division of the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department’s catch rates for colored shrimp are determined based on the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department’s catch rates for seine-gathering shrimp, the indicate length of the shrimp in April, the percentage of shrimp samples, and the times when there is maximum nocturnal ebb tidal flow.
Based on random projections for when colored shrimp will reach a suggest size of 112 mm and when ebb tides will last the longest, Texas will re-open state waters to crab trawling. When Texas re-opens its position waters, NOAA Fisheries did re-open federal waters off Texas. Generally, the r- entry has been on or about July 15. The Federal Register will provide information regarding the revised meeting in a subsequent fishing bulletin if the need to change the July 15 opening date is necessary.
