Legislation was introduced by Congressman Troy Nehls (R-TX-22 ) to restrict the storage of spent nuclear fuel away from the reactor across the nation.
The proposal, which is known as the Consolidated Interim Storage Facility Restriction Act, would end the nuclear Regulatory Commission’s ( NRC ) authority from issuing permits to storage facilities to store high-level radioactive waste, which includes spent fuel rods used in the nuclear fission process.
