About five hours before the filing deadline, Congresswoman Jasmine Crockett (D-TX-30 ) officially announced her long-awaited bid for the U.S. Senate, joining a number of prominent Republican and Democratic challengers to U.S. Sen. John Cornyn (R-TX ).

Her filing on Monday afternoon came as the filing deadline for Monday night approached, including former Congressman Colin Allred (D-TX-32 ), who dropped his bid for the U.S. Senate despite being the campaign’s nominee for the same position the night before Crockett’s campaign start.
