Following some meetings in October to get fish feedback on speckled fish regulations, this meeting will now take place. Trout are not already on the plan, but will they make a formal proposal at this meeting so that it can be discussed in public in the spring before being voted on?

Emergency and transitory decreased harvest regulations were implemented in many bay systems following the freeze event in February 2021, which affected tens of thousands of spotted seatrout, with the aim of hastening the recovery of the common game fish. Previous nationwide bag and size restrictions were reinstated after the temporary regulations expired on August 31.
