Gov. Greg Abbott signed Republicans’ latest score in this arena into law on Wednesday — House Bill (HB 7), the Texas Woman and Child Protection Act. Authored by state Rep. Jeff Leach (R-Plano) and sponsored by state Sen. Bryan Hughes (R-Mineola), the bill aimed to curb the distribution of chemical abortion pills through civil liability for providers of such products.
