Many of us may be drawn to early mornings and late evenings in July and August because we are almost always expecting to experience some of those ocean breeze summer showers while hunting. Anglers may be able to pursue more species of redfish, black disc, sheepshead, and fish this summer if the trout are biting well early due to recent changes to the trout regulations, which now require three fish per person and a 15 to 20 inch slot. The majority of fishermen will be looking for caught seatrout along Galveston and Bolivar beachfronts as well as the numerous islands in our bay system.
Many of the same strategies for different types will also work for you when you target seatrout. Useless methods like shrimp caught under a popping bottle and bream fished on a Carolina style rig have stood the test of time and have continued to produce year after year. Along with moving waters, fish can be found along the beach and in the sea. Once you’ve found the carp, continue casting or drifting in the same place for the best results. But be quick to react to that bull dark quickly. Over the past few years, we have boated a lot of bulls redfish on islands, which often catch people off guard when they bite!
In the summer, I spend a lot of time in the bay during the early hours of the day, but I usually leave early in the morning to try to find some larger species close by the pass or only offshore. This time of year, pelagics like fish, jacks, and many others appear in large numbers off Galveston. And we’ll typically head abroad to look for weed lines and check nearby platforms for cobia on a peaceful day. The majority of people are surprised to find these large, over 60-pound seafood on the surface. And once hooked, you better hold on for the challenge that is to observe. To angle a live bait at these fish, I generally have one or two larger 8000-sized spinning reels rigged up with a abilities leader and a little circle hook on top. They are great for board suffer once they land, and they are probably my go-to fish for new ceviche!

You’ll have access to thousands of potential new hunting locations and perhaps discover additional boat ramp locations in your area. A new slope may be the best idea ever given the increased force we appear to experience annually!
