The ongoing I-10 frontage road construction project will cause the existing eastbound Exit 540 approaching SH 46 and Bandera Road to close. Construction will begin on Monday, November 8, at 12:30 a.m. and is expected to last five weeks, according to TxDOT,
The contractor is progressing to the next state of developments, which includes building a new eastbound Exit 540 and eastbound frontage road.
“There will not be any additional changes to the intersection traffic configuration at this time,” TxDOT says online.
As a detour, eastbound mainlane traffic trying to use Exit 540 SH 46 approaching Bandera Road are advised to use the new US-87 exit, which is located down the eastbound frontage road to the Scenic Loop turnaround. Once traffic is under I-10, it will be directed back onto the westbound I-10 main lanes to the existing westbound Exit 540 SH 46 toward Bandera Road.
Expect delays on I-10 for the next five weeks.
