Catching shrimp in the Gulf of Mexico is not the most difficult endeavor.
You’ll likely be hit if you pull up to an oil equipment and squirm some jellyfish.
Catching great red fish, however, can be a real challenge. What are some pointers to keep in mind when pursuing great names that might only take home the STAR snapper division.
crimson Fish Around Lightly- Stress Structures: Red fish are generally found around marine structures like reefs, wrecks, and oil rigs. The machines get hit difficult. Take into account fishing wrecks that are far from the Gulf’s big rig fields. Employ electronics to examine the outside of the major setup structure for any potential pipes or another covers that may attract huge snapper or at least keep them away from most anglers if you do fish rigs.- Use the Right Bait: Live bait is overlooked for catching large red fish. Life pinfish and craoker are excellent options,. If live bait is not accessible, rods tipped with fresh cut fish is a good alternative.
- Fish at the Right Depth: During the summertime, red snapper are often found at depths ranging from 50 to 200 feet. Use a level finder to find these deep and change your fishing strategy accordingly. Do n’t just drop to the bottom and assume you’ll hook up.
