According to the Texas Observer, the Texas Department of Public Safety ( DPS) has finalized an acquisition strategy for a five-year deal worth “nearly$ 5.3 million” in order to acquire a surveillance tool called Tangles from PenLink.
PenLink’s Cobwebs Technologies developed Tangles, an AI-powered open-source intelligence ( OSINT ) platform that integrates data from various online sources to provide comprehensive analysis for law enforcement, public safety, and government entities. The Tangles program says it is able to “quickly identify and analyze potential legal activity”, such as drug trafficking, digital acts, and gang activity.
