Wednesday night, Exas State Parks was presented with the 2023 National Gold Medal for Excellence in Park and Recreation Management.
The American Academy for Park and Recreation Administration( AAPRA ) announced the National Gold Medal Award Program at its annual conference.
The fact that Texas State Parks has one of the best networks in the country is well known to the more than 9 million visitors who come here each year, according to Rodney Franklin, the state’s producer. However, it is heartwarming and appropriate to get this esteemed honor during our inaugural year, certainly demonstrating the advancements we have made over the past centuries to realize Gov. Along with Wyoming State Parks, Historic Sites and Trails as a contender, Texas StateParks was also named. Other position gardens included Missouri, Ohio, and Watercraft.
The Gold Medal Awards program, which was established in 1965, recognizes American communities that have excelled in parks and recreation through long-term planning, asset management, volunteerism, environmental stewardship, system development, career advancement, and agency recognition. Applications are divided into seven classes, with five classes based on population, one school for enjoyment of the armed forces, and a school, awarded on odd-numbered years, for state park systems.
Firms are evaluated on their capacity to meet the needs of the people they serve through the combined efforts of elected officials, community members, and employees.
