Bow-mounted trolling motors are more common than ever, and they are now just as common in the salt earth as they have always been on bass fishing grounds. The argument today is not about whether to get one, but rather about which one to get and how to energy it. Today’s fishermen have a big choice to create when they dress their boats thanks to the development of lithium atom.
Is this kind of equipment a good fit for your ship?
Boaters initially viewed lithium ion as they usually view most new software: with suspicion. However, it’s difficult to dispute the appeal of lithium in your ship at this point. Let’s look at the benefits and the negatives.
Pro: Lithium ion batteries weigh half as much as head- acid.
Con: Lead acid and lithium ion batteries typically cost more than that, but half as much.
Pro: Lithium ions truly pack twice as much useful power when compared batteries of an equivalent rating. Because you receive the same energy for 99 to 99 of the time of discharge, you can say that. Lead-acid, on the other hand, causes energy to drop to a level that is inoperable even when the battery itself retains a lot of power.
Con: Lead acid and lithium ion batteries typically cost more than that, but half as much.
Pro: Although you must have the correct charger, lithium ions can charge up to five times as quickly as lead acid when properly charged.
Con: Lead acid and lithium ion batteries typically cost more than that, but half as much.
Pro: Lithium ion batteries can last for more than five times as long as they do when discharged.
Con: Lead acid and lithium ion batteries typically cost more than that, but half as much.
Getting the image? Yes, Lithiums cost a whole lot more, but they’re even hands- down better in just about every way. And that concern about them blowing off is a thing of the past because the deep-cycle capacitors on the market today are LiFePO4 with lithium iron phosphate. Unlike older potassium batteries with more fragile parts, they are n’t content to sudden explosion. We ca n’t say for sure whether these advantages are enough for you to spend the extra money on, but we can say one thing for certain: you’ll be able to fish harder and longer than you could before with lithium ions on the boat.
