Hunting season begins on September 14 and has plenty of opportunities for bird harvesting in some Texas regions due to the damp climate.
Habitat conditions are already above average in much of the state. Near record-breaking rain filled reservoirs in East Texas and flooded tens of thousands of acres of flooded shorelines prosperous in food for teal. This summer’s humid climate along the Gulf Coast produced an abundance of new shallow waters, a significant development for habitat compared to last year.

The 16-day provincial 2024 first teal period in Texas may run Sept. 14 through 29. Turquoise has a normal bag limit of six and a custody limit of 18. According to Krishnai, the boundary for a democratic 16-day first teal season is 4.7. The 2025 first purple time may be limited to nine days for the first time since 2005 due to the population decline.

In addition, teal/waterfowl hunters will also need a migrant game birds support, national duck seal and HIP certification. Hunters are required to provide proof of their implementation of a warrior schooling course, as required by law.
This past year, the Duck Stamp Modernization Act of 2023 passed into law. This act modifies the Migratory Bird Hunting and Conservation Stamp’s provisions, making them now allow an individual to carry an electronic stamp (E-stamp ) throughout the entire waterfowl hunting season. After the shooting season, May 10 through June 30, 2025, a real Federal Duck Stamp will be mailed to each E-stamp customer.
