Legislation filed by Rep. Keith Self (R-TX-03) would direct the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to move the Washington, D.C headquarters of U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) to a location in Texas — a proposal that will likely see approval from the incoming Trump administration.
Under the legislation, if passed, the secretary of DHS would be directed to work with the Texas land commissioner, currently Dawn Buckingham, to select a location best suited to ensure the agency can respond to the crisis at the southern border.
