Asbury Automotive Group and multiple Texas car dealerships have filed a complaint against the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) and its Chair Lina Khan after the commission alleged that they targeted black and Latino consumers with “unwanted and higher-priced add-ons.”
Back in August, the FTC filed an administrative complaint alleging that Asbury, the owner of the three Dallas-based David McDavid used car dealerships, “charged consumers for add-ons they did not agree to, misled consumers into believing add-ons were required, and charged Black and Latino consumers more than non-Latino white consumers for the same products, including add-ons.”
