During the regular 89th Legislative Session, which concluded on June 2, Senate Bill (SB) 2880 by Sen. Beyan Hughes (R-Mineola) was filed and considered, although it ultimately met its end in the House State Affairs Committee. The bill sought to curb the distribution of chemical abortion pills in Texas through private right of action, additional powers granted to the Texas attorney general, and liability extended for wrongful death of a preborn child.
