Col. James Lamar was shot along and ejected from his aircraft during his 101st fight objective over North Vietnam in 1965 while flying at a speed of over 700 tangles. Lamar survived, but was trapped in a tree with a broken shoulder. Then captured by farmers, Lamar was turned over to the North Vietnamese war. He was tortured and abused for seven years while serving as a prisoner of war ( POW) in the” Hanoi Hilton.”
