People of 346 people who were killed in two distinct Boeing 737 MAX 8 crashes requested that the court reject a plea agreement signed by Boeing and the U.S. Department of Justice, alleging that it “improperly conceals the lethal consequences of Boeing’s crime.”
A door switch in an Alaska Airlines Boeing aircraft was ejected last January, creating a wide hole on the side of the aircraft while it was in midair. Although no injuries were reported, the DOJ learned four months later that Boeing had violated its previously agreed-to-be-deferred prosecution agreement ( DPA ), which was made after Boeing was found to have made “misleading statements, half-truths, and omissions” which allegedly contributed to the two prior fatal crashes in 2019. The DPA included a settlement of over$ 2.5 billion.
