Obituary: Mrs. Betty Mae Gonzales

January 31, 1951 – December 28, 2019

Betty Mae Hernandez Salas Gonzales of Rocksprings, Texas passed away Saturday, December 28th, 2019 in San Antonio, Texas. Betty was born in Fort McKavett, Texas to Tiburcio Salas and Antonia Hernandez Salas on January 31st, 1951.

She is preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Roy Salas, Cristoval Salas, Alfredo Salas and Victor Salas, sisters, Olivia Celaya, Juanita Rivera, Elia Castillo, and Emilia Salas and one granddaughter, Rheba Shane Ramos.

Betty married Ramiro Gonzales on March 11th, 1966.

Those left to honor and cherish her memory include her loving husband of 53 years, Ramiro Gonzales of Rocksprings; son, Ramiro Gonzales Jr. and wife Pauline of Rocksprings; daughter, Charlene Ramos of Midland, Cynthia Ruiz and husband Jorge Sr. of Glencoe, Minnesota, Geneva Franco and husband Carlos, Toni Gonzales and Guillermo Jimenez Jr., LeeAnn Magana and husband Juan Carlos (J.C.) all of Rocksprings.

Other family members left to honor and cherish her memory include her sisters, Maria Garcia and husband Alfredo of Little River Academy, TX, Josephina Aldaco and Bonifacio of Summit, Illinois, Maria Louisa Jimenez of Midland, TX, Minerva Rios and husband Lucio of Fort Stockton, TX; 22 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.

Mom had plenty of love to go around as we all call her mom. As the years went by her love for our Lord and Saviour was amazing. She knew exactly where she was going to be with the Lord. She will be greatly missed.

Pallbearers include Mark Gonzales, Christopher Gonzales, Ray Franco, Leandro Gonzales, Jesus Menchaca, Juan Menchaca, Jorge Ruiz Jr., and Carlos R. Franco.

Honorary Pallbearers include Saul Franco, Isac Menchaca, Jay and Jakob Magana,Elias Ramos, and Guillermo Jimenez III.

Visitation will be held 2-8 p.m. Monday, December 30th, and 10a.m. – 8 p.m. Tuesday, December 31st, at Nelson Funeral Chapel, Rocksprings.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, January 1st, 2020, 2 p.m. at Nelson Funeral Chapel, Rocksprings, Texas. Officiant Minister Ben Carabajal. Interment will follow in the Rocksprings Cemetery, Rocksprings, Texas.

Arrangements are under the personal care of Nelson Funeral Home of Rocksprings, Texas.
