Beginning on November 20, the new speckled trout size and regular bream restrictions will take effect.
More large fish will be caught in the net if the hook set is more calm.
The following are the fresh rules:
- Just two fish that are included in the normal creel limit may be longer than 20 inches in length.Size restriction: 13 to 20 inch overall.
- Daily Creel: 15 fish per fish is the regular cap.
- While on a contract journey, the charterboat manuals and staff will not be able to maintain the creel limit, but they may go fishing.
Prior to the agency’s April 2027 meeting, LDWF staff must submit an up-to-date stock assessment. The new laws are set to” sunset” at midnight on January 1, 2028. The fee will have the chance to change the rules, if necessary, before the end of 2028 thanks to this update assessment.
The current maximum length for speckled trout is 12 inches overall, with a normal creel of 25 fish.
The LDWF Fisheries Outreach team has created a picture on the best speckled trout handling procedures. These suggestions will help lower reject mortality for fish that have been released. iqHuqIM-j0o ?si=klBfA89DcfKEfUOnhttps://youtu.be
