Obituary: Mary Gonzalez

August 23, 1946 – August 19, 2019

Mary F. Gonzalez, age 67, passed away Saturday, August 31, 2019 in Freeport, Texas, surrounded by her loving family. Mary was born on August 7, 1952 in Owatonna, Minnesota to Cecilia Flores and later adopted and raised by her Daddy Baudelio Flores.

She was raised in Brownfield, Texas where she met and married the Love of her life and High School Sweetheart Raul Gonzalez. They shared more than 53 years together. They married on March 20, 1971, on the first day of Spring.

Left to cherish her memory is her Loving Husband Raul Gonzalez; mother-in-law Frances Casillas; four children Monica Gonzalez Villegas (Vidal), Raul Gonzalez Jr. (Dora), Marissa Gonzalez (Angel), and Marina Williams (Carl); six grandchildren Miranda Hernandez (Robert), Raul Gonzalez III “Trey” (Gabriella), MaCarlie Williams, Elias Gonzalez – Hernandez, Mariella Gonzalez – Hernandez, and Maralee Gonzalez – Hernandez; two great-grandsons Elijah Hernandez and Josiah Hernandez.

She also leaves her best friend and baby Sissy Margarita Campos and two brothers Albert Valdez Jr. and Luis Valdez; numerous nieces, nephews, and Godchildren whom she loved dearly.

She has been reunited in Heaven with her parents Cecilia and Baudelio Flores, sisters Elizabeth Saldana, Elva Valdez, and Carmen Rodriguez, brothers Baudelio Flores Jr., and Jose Valdez.

Pallbearers escorting Mary to her final resting place are Tony Gonzalez, Samuel Gonzalez, Abraham Gonzalez, Benito Gonzalez, Robert Hernandez, Raul Gonzalez III “Trey”.

Honorary Pallbearer Benjamin Casper.

Visitation will be 12 noon to 8 p.m. Friday, September 6th, 2019 at Nelson Funeral Chapel, Leakey, with Recitation of the Holy Rosary at 7 p.m.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 7th, 2019 at St. Raymond Catholic Church, Leakey, Texas. Officiant Father Sady Nelson Santana. Burial will follow in the Gonzalez Family Cemetery, Leakey, Texas.

Arrangements were under the special care of Nelson Funeral Home, Leakey, Texas. The family invites you to leave a condolence at www.nelsonfuneralhomes.net
