Kerrville ISD extends free meal plan through the end of the school year

By Danielle Moody at Fox 29, November 5, 2020

KERRVILLE, Texas – Kerrville ISD is extending their free meal plan through the end of the school year.

The school district said student meals will now be free for all Kerrville ISD students through June 30, 2021. Eligible meals include standard breakfast and lunch meals, but extras or a la carte items are not included in the program.

The program covers on-campus school cafeteria meals and curbside meals to remote learners. Curbside meals can be picked up at Starkey Elementary from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.

Kerrville ISD applied for special funding through the USDA to support the program to speed meal services as students return to campus. The district also said that money currently in a student’s account can still be used to purchase a la carte items. All funds in their account will remain and can be used when normal meal pricing resumes the next school year.
