The Securing Children Online Through Parental Empowerment (SCOPE ) Act became law on September 1 but only partially after a district court judge blocked one aspect of the law.
House Bill ( HB) 18, the SCOPE Act, was passed during the 88th Legislative Session. The law aims to stop digital service providers ( DSP) from entering agreements with minors without the consent of their parents or guardians. Additionally, it mandates that DSPs provide parental or guardians with options to entirely allow a particular setting in these agreements.
