As a result of an investigation by the Texas Rangers, former Texas Lottery Commission ( TLC ) director Gary Grief was charged with abuse of his position and later defrauded Texas Lottery participants, but his case was promptly dismissed by a Travis County assistant district attorney.
Grief’s indictment was based on a report from the Houston Chronicle, which revealed his working as TLC chairman with shareholders to increase their chances of winning by allowing them to purchase each range from the lottery in 2023, which had a prize of$ 95 million.
