How come STAR?

We are constantly looking for ways to bring people together so they can benefit from our efforts. You can imagine that in 20 years, if we don’t successfully hook these boys, we’ll all be fishing for dead fish. We required a selection tool because more people, both young and old, increase our influence on all of our advocacy issues.

In 1990, the CCA State of Texas Anglers Rodeo( STAR ) was established. Plans were idealistic and Texas-sized, just like the spirit that brought this outside brotherhood up. Offer grand prizes to raise attention and entice people to participate in what we actually do by creating a fun, healthy event for the entire family. Even today, STAR maintains a zero-budget policy, which means that any money raised is used to fund awards, scholarships, and advertising that highlight what CCA is all about. We were unaware that it would develop into” the biggest, richest, longest saltwater game everywhere ,” as some have claimed. The hook is that those who want a chance at some driveway-sized prizes must first join the CCA. Joke meant.

Without damn fine partners, you can’t offer prizes of this magnitude( well over$ 1, 000,000, including$ 325 000 in scholarships ). We cannot express enough how grateful we are and how much we need commercial sponsors who care about Texas’ 600 miles of shoreline’s potential vitality. Some people, both those with a strong vested interest and those who stand to gain directly from this estimated$ 3 billion saltwater industry, invest to ensure the success of our work. More fish equals more fish, which in turn leads to more sales of rod, reel, boats, trucks, homes, etc. According to some estimates, more than half of Texas’ population lives within 50 yards of the ocean, which is attested to by the seaside environment’s healing power.

Yes, there are a lot of Texans involved in this, and those who help make it happen deserve to be rewarded for their generosity; then, we will both lose and the effort required to keep our bays and estuaries alive will be in vain. With your assistance, CCA will not let that occur.

The nation’s top pastime continues to be fish. If the bass are present, it will stay that way. They are, and they are. Become a CCA Texas member. Participate in the STAR Tournament. Book a condominium for the family to stay on the beach if you have any free time. Perhaps Uncle Ned can go if he wants to, so get some rod. Step outside and enter. Discover why we are drawn to the aura of what our breathtaking shores, created by God, have to offer. Wishing you luck.
