Accusations about contracts, recorded conversations, and paid chaplains mark a heated fight between two incumbent Cypress-Fairbanks Independent School District (CFISD) trustees who were elected four years ago with support from conservative and Republican groups.
In 2021, voters tossed incumbents and elected Natalie Blasingame and Scott Henry to CFISD board Positions 5 and 6, respectively. Both were endorsed that year by the Harris County Republican Party (HCRP), the Conservative Coalition of Harris County (CCHC), and business political networking organization BIZPAC. Their campaigns emphasized community concerns over elements of critical race theory in curricula and the district’s plans for an “equity audit.”
