
After being found in a three-week-old calf in Zavala County this week, the New World screwworm ( NWS ) is now officially present in Texas.
Texans were first informed by state representative Don McLaughlin (R-Uvalde ), who had reported reports of NWS, a destructive flesh-eating livestock pest that had previously been eradicated in the U.S., about a mile from the Texas-Mexico border.
